This year has seen me return to exhibiting my artwork as part of the collective 'Fabula Tres' and at this July's Sherborne Open Exhibition.
In April, for the month myself and two other artist friends (we go by the name Fabula Tres) staged an exhibition at Guggleton Farm Arts in Dorset. The show featured an assortment of our individual work and a series of 2D mixed media hangings that were the result of a collaborative effort, with all three of us experimenting in colours, styles, markings and materials onto Canson paper. The resulting imagery was then cut up, using template guides we'd cut and reassembled so as to conjoin our initial visual realisations.
This was the first time I had displayed in public any of my work for four years, none of the pictures had been shown before and for me it was the most cohesive collection of pieces I'd curated to date for viewing. All nine were bird oriented, the result of the last two or three years output, it felt good to be actively putting my creativity 'out there' again! Guggleton were very supportive and we felt very welcomed to be there.
The show lasted for a month with positive reception and some pleasing feedback and several of the pieces were then carried over as part of Dorset Art Weeks at the same venue. This was a first for all three of us and hopefully not the last.
July saw the return to Sherborne of the Open Art Exhibition at the Digby Hall. Both myself and Fabula Tres comrade Liz put forward artworks for this show and all were accepted. The standard of work all round was very high and it was a pleasure to have participated. Hopefully, I can stay in this mindset of wanting people to see my work in real-life and maintain some momentum and not get reluctant, dismissive of my own work become listless and waste a few more years producing work and then just hiding under the bed.
